Barrel shaped tobacco jar and lid, decorated with incised and rouletted bands.
Made for William Southorn tobacco pipe manufacturer at nearby Broseley; impressed mark to the underside of the lid: “Wm Southorn & Co. / Tobacco Pipe Works / Broseley”.

A similar William Southern jar exists also in blue, but with different rouletted bands and with a removable lead liner and weight to press down on the loose tobacco.
