Pair of vases decorated with long-necked stylised birds, probably cranes, swooping over water with reeds and flowers in the background, executed in sgraffito (incised) technique and polychrome glaze.

Only one of these striking vases is marked, bearing the standard impressed SALOPIAN mark, the monogram “FG” (for Francis Gibbons) and the date 1882.
